Dasuya, May 3, 2026: Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday launched a sharp attack on opposition parties while asserting that welfare schemes for women and free electricity will continue as long as the Aam Aadmi Party remains in power in Punjab.
Addressing a Lok Milni at Ghogra in Dasuya constituency of Hoshiarpur district, the Chief Minister said women will keep receiving Sanmaan Raashi and 24×7 free electricity under his government. He also highlighted the passage of the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026, stating that sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib will now attract life imprisonment, claiming the move has “closed the chapter” on beadbi.
Mann accused opposition parties, particularly the Shiromani Akali Dal, of “drowning Punjab in drugs” and alleged that they are uneasy due to action being taken against them. He further said earlier governments diverted public funds for personal gain, whereas his administration ensures that “public money is spent on the public.”
The Chief Minister alleged that opposition parties are running “daily propaganda” to defame Punjab and his government, describing them as “anti-Punjab.” He claimed his government has focused on citizen-centric governance by directly engaging with people and prioritising development initiatives.
Defending his administration’s record, Mann said the state government has provided free electricity to a majority of households, created over 65,000 jobs without corruption, and improved infrastructure including roads and irrigation. He added that welfare measures such as the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna are delivering free healthcare benefits to lakhs of families.
On women’s welfare, Mann reiterated that financial assistance is being provided under the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, with monthly support for eligible women. He also stressed that education and healthcare remain central to the government’s strategy for long-term social reform.
Targeting both the Akali Dal and the Indian National Congress, Mann accused them of misrule, internal conflicts, and failing to safeguard Punjab’s interests in the past. He claimed voters would again support AAP in the 2027 Assembly elections, citing what he described as “pro-people governance.”
The Chief Minister’s remarks came during a public interaction programme aimed at addressing local grievances and gathering feedback from residents.
