Chandigarh, May 29: The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has directed Punjab Police to submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) on July 1, 2026, in connection with the case involving alleged casteist remarks made by Member of Parliament and Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring during election campaigning.
Sharing details, Commission Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi said the Commission had taken suo motu notice of the alleged use of caste-based remarks against Dalit communities by Raja Warring.
During the hearing held on Thursday, the SP Headquarters, Sri Muktsar Sahib, appeared before the Commission on behalf of the Senior Superintendent of Police and informed that the process of examining the audio clip linked to the matter had already been initiated.
The police also informed the Commission that information related to the audio clip has been sought from Meta, and the report is expected within the next 30 days.
Garhi further stated that the Commission has directed the concerned authorities to submit the Action Taken Report along with Meta’s findings before the Commission on July 1, 2026.
The matter has drawn political attention in Punjab amid ongoing debates over alleged caste-based remarks in the state’s political discourse.
