Chandigarh, May 13: Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) declared the Class 12 examination results on Tuesday, with girls dominating the merit list and securing the top three positions with a perfect score of 500 out of 500 marks.

Creating history in the state board examinations, Supneet Kaur of Gurukul Academy Public Senior Secondary School, Ubbha in Mansa district topped the Science stream with a flawless score. Suhani Chauhan of BCM Senior Secondary School, Jamalpur Colony, Ludhiana secured the second position in the Humanities stream, while Divanshi of Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Senior Secondary School, Shimlapuri, Ludhiana claimed the third spot. All three students scored a perfect 500/500 marks.

Interestingly, all three toppers are also active sportspersons.

According to the PSEB results data, a total of 2,65,417 students appeared for the Class 12 annual examinations this year, out of which 2,42,755 students passed, taking the overall pass percentage to 91.46%.

Among all streams, Commerce recorded the highest pass percentage at 98.78%, with 34,074 students clearing the examination out of 34,496 candidates. Science followed closely with a pass percentage of 98.47%, as 55,593 out of 56,456 students passed the exams.

In the Humanities stream, 1,45,179 students cleared the examination out of 1,65,457 candidates, registering a pass percentage of 87.74%. Meanwhile, the Vocational stream recorded an 87.80% pass percentage, with 7,909 students passing out of 9,008 examinees.

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains termed the results a reflection of the hard work of students and dedication of teachers across the state.

This result reflects the relentless efforts of students, the commitment of teachers and the education reforms introduced under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann,” he said.

The Education Minister congratulated the toppers and wished all successful students the best for their future endeavours. He also credited initiatives such as digital classrooms, teacher training programmes and timely syllabus completion for the improved academic performance in the state.
